Volunteer at Respite Care
There are many different ways to volunteer with Respite Care ranging from short-term opportunities to ongoing. Whether it’s spending time playing with our kids, completing projects around our home or offering your time and expertise by serving on our Board of Directors, you will experience first-hand the impact you are making in the lives of our children and families. If you are interested in joining us, please download one of our applications below or submit the request form. Our Volunteer Manager, Hannah, looks forward to helping you get started!
Please know that we love having new faces around Respite Care as often as possible, however we do need to schedule even temporary volunteers in advance.
Child Care Volunteer:
Help fulfill the mission of Respite Care by providing fun, safe, and stimulating activities for children with developmental disabilities. Must have an interest and willingness to work with children, and a compassion for all abilities. Participate in activities with children and staff; for example: read stories, play basketball or board games, help with crafts, hold babies, help at meal times or aid in field trips and outings.
Temporary volunteers usually come in groups from companies, teams, schools, clubs, etc. They help with childcare or household duties depending on the needs of Respite and the desires of the group. Contact the Volunteer Manager to schedule a volunteer opportunity in advance. All volunteers need to be 14 years or older in order to volunteer by themselves. If they are 12-13 years old, they are welcome to volunteer with a parent.
Respitality is a four hour event that hosts Respite kids and their siblings, so the parents can have a kid-free night! During this event, each volunteer is paired with child and they are buddies for the whole evening. Both the volunteers and the kids love evenings like this! This is a great group opportunity. Contact us for information about our fall Respitality events.
During the summers we go out into the community on field trips as much as possible. We go to museums, parks, pools and so much more. Day camp volunteers are paired one on one with a kiddo for the day and have the opportunity to be a friend.
We love having volunteers involved with our organization as much as possible. If you have any ideas for us please contact Hannah, our Volunteer Manager at email@example.com. In order to work directly with our children volunteers must be 12 years of age to volunteer alongside a parent or 14 years of age to volunteer without a parent present. In addition to working directly with children, we are a committee based organization, and as such are always on the lookout for individuals willing to offer their expertise. Whether it’s a potential seat to serve on our Board of Directors, or joining one of our marketing, fund development, strategic planning or other committees, we would love to hear from you if interested.
