Cathy Markley
March 19, 1958- October 9, 2022
Cathy Renee Markley, 64, received her eternal wings on Sunday, October 9, 2022, after courageously battling esophageal cancer.
Cathy was born March 19, 1958, in Wichita, Kansas to Wally and Lori Noel. Cathy moved to Fort Collins, CO. with her son. On November 11, 1989, Cathy married the love of her life, Douglas Markley. Cathy was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
For the past 26 years, Cathy and Doug chased the green grass by splitting their time throughout the year between CO and Palm Desert, CA. Cathy had a passion for playing golf and watching tennis. One of her favorite events of the year was the Indian Wells tournament which she got to enjoy in person many times. She enjoyed playing golf until her back no longer allowed so she then took up the game of Mahjong which she enjoyed playing with close friends regularly. She and Doug loved to travel and explore the world together. They visited Monte Carlo, France, Italy, Spain, Cancun, Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas, and Maui. Each trip brought many amazing memories that Doug and family will cherish forever. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and as it grew, Cathy’s greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved fiercely and always put her family first.
Cathy was preceded in death by her sister, Jackie Moore. Survivors included her husband, Doug Markley, her mother, Lori Noel and father, Wally Noel, her son, Justin Markley, stepdaughters, Cindy DeGroot (Gregg), Carrie Baumgart (Eric), grand-children, Ashlee Giro (Jackson), Tyler DeGroot, Hunter Baumgart, Lily Markley, and Austin Markley, her great-grandchildren, Rori Giro and Cameron Giro. She is also survived by her sister, Sandy Winter and her brothers, Larry Noel and Mike Noel.
Cathy will be missed tremendously by all those that loved her.
Funeral services will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at 2:00 pm on Tuesday October 18, 2022. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation in support of the Cancer Center or Respite Care.
