Leave a Legacy of Care for Kids and Families

By including Respite Care in your estate plans, you can help ensure extraordinary kids and their families receive compassionate, high-quality care for generations to come.

The Respite Care Legacy Circle honors individuals and families who have chosen to create a lasting impact through a future gift. Whether you include Respite Care in your will, trust, retirement account, life insurance policy, or other giving plan, your generosity helps strengthen the future of our mission

What is the Legacy Circle?

The Respite Care Legacy Circle recognizes compassionate supporters who have made a commitment to the future by including Respite Care in their long-term giving plans. Legacy gifts allow us to plan ahead, care for future families, and continue creating a safe, enriching, and supportive environment for children with developmental disabilities.

Legacy Circle members become part of a special community of donors who believe every child deserves care, connection, and opportunity, not just today, but for years to come.

Why leave a legacy gift?

A legacy gift is one of the most meaningful ways to support Respite Care. It allows you to create a lasting impact by helping ensure that children and families can access compassionate, high-quality care for generations to come. These gifts strengthen the future of our programs and provide stability for the organization’s long-term mission. Legacy giving also offers flexibility, with a variety of options that can be tailored to your personal, financial, and family goals. Many legacy gifts can be updated over time, allowing you to make a commitment today while maintaining the ability to adjust your plans if your circumstances change.

Ways to Leave a Legacy Gift

There are many ways to include Respite Care in your plans. Some options cost nothing during your lifetime, while others may offer income, tax, or estate planning benefits. We encourage you to speak with your attorney, financial advisor, or tax professional to determine what is best for you.

Respite Care reserves the right to review and decline gifts that are too restrictive, not in the organization's best interest, or inconsistent with applicable policies.

Bequests

A gift in your will or revocable living trust is one of the simplest ways to support Respite Care in the future. You may designate a specific dollar amount, asset, or percentage of your estate. This type of gift is easy to update if your situation changes.

Retirement Assets

Naming Respite Care as a beneficiary of retirement assets, such as an IRA, 401(k), or 403(b), can be a tax-efficient way to make a future gift. For donors age 70 1/2 and older, qualified charitable distributions from an IRA may also be an option during your lifetime.

Life Insurance

You may name Respite Care as a beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy or donate a policy directly. This can be an affordable way to make a meaningful future gift.

Donor-Advised Funds

You may recommend a future gift to Respite Care through your donor-advised fund as part of your charitable planning.

Stock and Appreciated Securities

Gifts of appreciated stocks, bonds, and mutual fund shares may offer tax benefits while increasing the value of your support.

Real Estate and Other Assets

Respite Care may consider gifts such as real estate, tangible personal property, and certain trust arrangements. These gifts require additional review and should be discussed with us in advance.

Charitable Trusts and Other Planned Gifts

Options such as charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, and retained life estates may provide additional planning benefits depending on your goals.

Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit

Did you know that many monetary donations to Respite Care qualify for the Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit? This credit can reduce the after-tax cost of eligible gifts by more than 50 percent.

Half of your eligible donation may be offset by a dollar-for-dollar credit against your Colorado income taxes. You may also be able to claim the charitable deduction on your federal and state income tax returns if you itemize deductions.

Eligible donors may include individuals, estates, trusts, partnerships, and corporations. Only monetary donations qualify for this credit. Because every tax situation is unique, we encourage you to consult your tax advisor for guidance.

Legacy Circle Recognition

When you let us know about your future gift, you may choose to be recognized as a member of the Respite Care Legacy Circle. This recognition allows us to express our gratitude and celebrate your commitment to improving the future of our mission.

If you prefer, you may also choose to remain anonymous during your lifetime or forever.

If you have already included Respite Care in your plans, we would be honored to know. Completing a Statement of Intent helps us thank you appropriately, recognize your generosity according to your wishes, and plan responsibly for the future.

Please note that your gift remains revocable and may be changed by you at any time. Completing this form is not legally binding.
